BACKCOUNTRY TERRAIN

Gudauri offers an array of backcountry terrain that caters to skiers and snowboarders of various skill levels. Here’s a breakdown of the terrain you can explore:

Alpine Bowls
Gudauri is renowned for its vast alpine bowls, providing open and expansive areas for freeriding. These bowls offer endless powder-filled descents and wide-open turns. Descend into Kobi bowl straight from the lift or hike up a neighboring valley for pure, wide-open solitude.

Steep Chutes
Thrill-seekers will appreciate the steep chutes and couloirs that Gudauri has to offer. Technical, challenging, protected from wind and sun, and full of adrenaline.

Remote Zones
If you’re looking for solitude and untouched snow, venture into Gudauri’s remote zones. Within a 30-90 minute hike from the lifts, numerous chutes, bowls, spines, and fields descend down to the road where our driver will pick you up. These areas require careful planning and are best explored with a knowledgeable guide.

SNOW CONDITIONS

Gudauri experiences snowfall from December until May although most snowfall is concentrated in the spring months. March is best for deep powder beneath the ski lifts and early April is great for long ski tours on stable snow. Due to its high elevation and unique climate patterns, while the spring season is winding down in the Alps, Gudauri is just reaching its peak.

Varied Conditions
Due to the 1300 meter elevation difference in the ski resort and even greater elevations in the backcountry, you’re likely to find all conditions from light, dry powder on top to spring corn on the bottom.

GETTING THERE

The scenic drive along the Georgian Military Highway from Tbilisi to Gudauri takes approximately 2.5 hours with our safe drivers and comfortable cars.

From Kutaisi Airport, driving time is about 5 hours, crossing the foothills of central Georgia and then winding up into the greater Caucasus.
